O****** absolutely loved her lesson with Rusnè today. 

She suffers from anxiety and low confidence, so she was very nervous beforehand, but she came away from the lesson absolutely beaming.

I honestly have not seen her that happy in a long time. This is obviously her passion! 

 

So, after that, O****** want to start weekly straight away, 1********. 

She is also thinking of doing classical or opera now, she was so inspired.

1. I appreciate that you are able to fit the weekly lesson into your very packed schedule. A great improvement has been to agree the following lesson slot at the end of each lesson - this removes a lot of stress and seems to be working for both of us

2. I appreciate your flexibility to extend the lesson from 60 to 75/90 mins if we see that the work is going well and is worth completing

3. Your musical (and acting) skills are superb, I loved your Contessa two years ago and a few videos of yours I saw. You proposed a lot of interesting repertoire that is not very commonly executed (Russian songs). You are starting to work on different genres with me (arias, recits etc ) and you make clear what each of them entails. You also gave me useful guidance on how to make opera arias more expressive and how to use hands to underline core points. I also enjoy your strong focus on the text and the context of what I sing.

4. Your teaching skills are superb, they range from creating technical exercises out of nowhere when I have a technical difficulties,  to making very original and meaningful comments on the scores that really shed a lot of light on them.

5. You implicitly coach me. Starting singing is ridden with self-doubt but I am sure that you keep the bar high and that when there is something unacceptable you raise it. On the other side, when it's not worth working on something given my level, you make it clear and set clear expectations of what is acceptable at my level. 

6. I appreciated your help in preparing for the Grade 8 exam and the back-and-forth with the videos.

7. If needed - I am open to work more on technical exercises outside the pieces we do if you deem it useful. Being completely honest having a written routine for warming up doing technical exercises would help as I can be lazy on those. If there are books you can suggest I would be open to these

Rusne has been my teacher for nearly 3 years now and remains as dedicated as always. Even though I’m only learning for fun Rusne does not compromise on technique and pays a lot of attention to details. She is very careful about protecting the voice and using it safely. She always comes up with imaginative ways for teaching technique and encourages me to enjoy and feel the music. Rusne now has started teaching my kids aged 7 too. They love the lessons and Rusne has been very flexible about accommodating our schedules and managing to fit our lessons around her own increasingly busy singing career. Thank you!

My daughter (************) now 5 years old started with Rusne for singing lessons August last year.

(******) enjoyed very much her singing lessons.  Rusne is able to keep her engaged and interested with the lessons.

Rusne guides her on breathing, music notes recognition, rhythms, singing octaves to piano play.

She noted on (******)'s good progress on notes recognition and good following of rhythms.  I am pleased to hear that.

(1) Feedback:
1. I find the teacher extremely good and as a result I feel progress is very good
2. The teacher is very flexible regarding times and hours, which lets me fit these lessons into my schedule

4. Teaching technique - those are the best parts: 

+ We practice only very few pieces (quality as opposed to quantity) 

+ We review pieces done in the past months after a while 

+ We work extensively on pronunciation and breathing

+ When there is a technical difficulty/problem the teacher creates ad-hoc exercises that help me overcome those problems 

+ The teacher provides scores with notes on those, which help me prepare the pieces

+ The teacher makes it clear what the objective is for each piece, given its difficulty and my level. This helps a lot to remove the stress, as there may be cases where the result is not what I expect, but getting confidence that what I am doing is the best I can do at this stage keeps me on track.

Hello

I’ve had had singing lessons with Rusne for the last two years and am really happy with the progress I’ve made. Most importantly I really enjoy the lessons. Rusne is a gifted teacher with high standards not matter what your level. She pays a lot of attention to details and is also very individualised in her approach and open to suggestions. She is a committed and enthusiastic teacher. I am just learning singing for fun so have not done any exams, but Rusne has encouraged me to take part in the studio concerts which I may do in the future. She also offers lessons in the holidays. I think the fees are very reasonable for the quality of teaching that I get. Thank you!

I am really pleased with the progress I have made. I feel I have made good progress despite having very little time to practise between lessons. Rusne is an amazing teacher as she is both really positive and encouraging but at the same time pays a lot of attention to detail.
