Clancy McLeod is “a captivating, expressive and very musical” guitarist with a promising future as a performer. After studying classical guitar for two years with Shannon Millard Clancy achieved a perfect score of 50 in VCE music. He subsequently gave a performance as part of The Top Acts program at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Clancy began his studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2015. In 2018 Clancy made it into the finals of the prestigious Adelaide International Guitar Competition. Later that year he was a finalist in the Melbourne International Guitar Competition and won second prize in the 3MBS ‘The Talent’ radio competition. Clancy also was a finalist of the multi-instrumental London Strings Competition in 2018. Clancy completed his Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with top marks and first class honours under the tutelage of Daniel McKay in November 2018.
Clancy is a talented guitarist and a gifted performer, above all though, he is an artist and communicator. Clancy's dream is to share music with new and diverse audiences and to share and encourage passion for music with students.
Clancy is a skilled teacher with several years experience teaching students of all levels. He believes that an encouraging and empathetic teaching style enables students to develop their confidence, as well as freeing them to grow their passion for music. Clancy's aim is to inspire his students as well as to help them develop a firm foundation in essential skills such as technique, sight reading, theory and ensemble skills.
Clancy is an Australian musician and is currently based in London where he is freelancing and studying privately. In his free time Clancy loves hiking, reading and getting outdoors.
